Tried to do someting different, but not too different.

This weeks Illustration Friday's Topic just happens to be trail when I've just finished one. :)

I also tried have a version of a shadow of a wolf.

I'm worried that it might be a bit cheesy. I really need to make up my mind on which one is better. Any thoughts?

Mermaid

I tried to keep the colour constrast between the koi fish and the water but I'm not sure if it's working as I wished it would.

Mermaid (sketch)

These are the two sketches I've done to draw an Asian version of a mermaid. It's a mixture of an Asian angel or goddess and the mermaid. Although the costumes aren't really accurate since the original costume is nothing close to suitable for swimming, I believe it still gives it's feel and it's good enough.

The first image I've came up with (after a million unfinished sketches) is the second one, but I had to put it down since it is too similar from the poster of the musical Little Mermaid. That's why you shouldn't Google mermaid when you are about to draw one. :P But anyway, I believe I came up with a better one.

These days I tend to do some sketches before I start an illustration. Some from photographs some from my head or maybe mixed. It takes about half a day but seems to work quite well. It seems like I end up with a better result if I can make time to do this.

I don't think I've successfully visualised the wind, but then again, that is what it is like in cuckmere vally. It's extreamly windy but the view is rather calm.

Tree House Rapunzel

A fairy tale is only a fairy tale.

The thought that the prince climbed up the tower with Rapunzel's hair always sounded terrifying to me when I was a child. So I made her hair just long enough so that the prince cannot reach her hair.

But I don't think the image isn't working as much as I wanted it to.
